Schuylerville Central School District has been
recognized for outstanding achievement in educational communications by
the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA). The district
received six total awards—one award of excellence, three awards of honor
and two awards of merit in the contest, which continues to be one of the
largest of its kind in the nation.
The award of excellence was received in the “overall graphics and
design” category for the district’s 2009 Elementary School yearbook. In
the same graphics and design category, Schuylerville was recognized with
honor awards for its 2008-09 district calendar and the Jr.-Sr. High
School’s art and literary journal, Looking Glass. The district calendar
was also recognized with an award of honor in the “calendar” category.
In addition, Looking Glass and the 2009 Elementary School yearbook
received awards of merit in the “special purpose publication” category.
With more than 400 entries in 14 categories from across New York State,
the 2009 contest was a closely drawn competition. “This year’s winners
should feel especially proud of their awards, which recognize excellence
in school communications,” said Marcia Kelley, NYSPRA president and
school information officer of the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School
District. “Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of professionals
from around the country.”
Award-winning recipients in NYSPRA’s 30th Annual Communications Awards
will be honored on October 16, 2009 at the annual NYSPRA Awards Luncheon
held in conjunction with the 2009 New York State School Boards
Association Convention in New York, NY.
NYSPRA is a chapter of the National School Public Relations Association.
As a statewide group of professional school communicators, members are
